Foxwell Magic Philosophy
At Foxwell Magic we believe children’s interests should drive the curriculum, we understand that play based curriculums derived from children’s interests support children to reach a state of flow very quickly. We believe in the significance of allowing children to remain engaged in flow, as this supports children to develop a cohesive sense of self determination, through gaining mastery, over coming challenges, and enjoying the process of learning in safe and supportive environment. We understand that a child’s need for fun drives their behavioural play, and that children need to be provided with extended time to fill their mastery, freedom and fun cups, through challenging and engaging environments designed to support their development and wellbeing.
We identify that every child has individual needs and that these needs vary. Our educators strive to form a deep understanding of each child in collaboration with families and communities to support the best possible outcomes for each child in our care.
We understand the undoing effect of stress and anxiety and how greatly this can impact on a child’s capacity to engage and have flow. We endeavour to ensure that the theory behind positive psychology underpins our interactions with children, as positive interactions and building positive emotions can undo the negative effects of stress, anxiety, fear, anger and sadness.
We view children as capable and competent by giving children a sense of potency, in understanding that they can make a difference to themselves and their world. Children gain self-esteem through developing a strong sense of belonging within their environment . At Foxwell Magic we aim to place an emphasis on happiness and wellbeing to support children’s socialisation and connectedness within their environment. Our children are educated about where food comes from, what foods nourish and fuel their growing bodies, and how to keep their bodies healthy and safe.
We identify as a community there are many contributing factors causing a rise in children presenting with vulnerabilities. We strive to make every effort to ensure families are supported in their parenting role and that all children have access to participate in the programs. This is facilitated through critical reflection and by developing meaningful ways to support the unique individual needs of each child. Our goal is to support children to develop a positive disposition towards learning, which will set them up for success as they prepare for their formal education years.
At Foxwell Magic firmly believe that children should be provided with a safe environment that promotes social justice and is free from discrimination. We believe that all people should be respected regardless of their age, gender, race or religion. Every child belongs here and will be treated as so. We believe we are blessed to live in culturally and linguistically diverse community and this will be celebrated within our services curriculums, events and celebrations.
We acknowledge the Yugambeh language speaking people as the traditional owners of our land. We strive to collaborate with our Indigenous community to ensure that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective is celebrated in meaningful ways within our service, and that service decision making upholds and reflects the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being. In doing this we have created a deeper understanding of how well established sustainable initiatives within the service, build a natural appreciation and respect for caring for the land on which our service operates.
As a team our educators recognise and celebrate the individual strengths of one another, and utilise these strengths to support in providing the highest quality of care for the children and families as our service. We value accountability and supporting each member of our team to deliver the best possible outcomes for the children in their care.
